About the Show:

The Ride for Red Clear Round Classic has two goals: to offer a jumper show with an encouraging format to help riders and horses develop their skills, and to raise money and awareness for the Canadian Blood Services.

Ride for Red offers a friendly format that encourages riders new to the sport of show jumping to give it a try, and also offers classes that allow riders to school new/green horses in a show environment. We have gathered some wonderful sponsors and will have prizes and prize money...with an affordable entry fee.

We are hoping to encourage the public to come and watch, and learn more about the sport of show jumping, and at the same time hope to educate both spectators and participants about the important roll the Canadian Blood Services (CBS) plays in our health care system. A portion of entry fees will be donated to the CBS.

The CBS has been key helping my dad in his battle with MDS and leukemia. The work they do procuring the blood and plasma, and in cross typing is amazing. With each transfusion it gets more and more complicated to find a match. Without their services, and equally importantly, without the people who donated the blood he received, he would not be here today.

Class Descriptions:

Each Height Division offers 2 Clear Round courses, and one Classic. A horse must receive a Clear Round ribbon to enter the Classic at that height.

To receive a clear round ribbon, the horse/rider must go clear with no faults. Faults are received if the horse has a rail down, a refusal, crosses its tracks between jumps (circles) or is over the time allowed. Fall of either horse or rider while in the ring, three refusals, or going off course, will result in elimination.

Riders sign up for a clear round class by giving a clear round ticket to the gate keeper so that they are added to the order of go. You do NOT need to decide which heights you will be competing in before the show, and can alter which heights you will challenge once you see how your horse is going. There are no restrictions as to what height(s) a horse may enter.

Once a horse has a clear round ribbon, they may be entered in the Classic at that height. Horses can only be entered in up to two classics. Classics cost $20.00 each, and entry fees must be paid prior to the start of the classic.

The Clear Round courses will be posted at least 1 hour before the start of the class. There will be two courses available to be challenged at each height. Both courses will be set up at the same time, and riders may decide which course they wish to do as they enter the ring. Horses can do the same course multiple times.

Clear Round course A will be shorter and be similar to a hunter course, with some minor challenges. Clear Round course B will offer more challenges, and at the higher levels, will include a double combination.

At the 12” height, riders MAY be led, and coaches may enter the ring with their students for additional support. Horses may also be entered at the 12” height to be led only (without a rider). A special award will be available for the top horse that is led in the Classic (with or without a rider).

Classics will be judged as Table A speed classes (no jump off). That is, the horses will be placed based on number of faults. Horses with the same number of faults will be placed based on times. A horse may be entered into the same classic twice IF it is ridden by a different rider, and if each rider has qualified for entry into the classic.
